COLOUR OF DANCE

About

Why we dance?

Kristy fell in love with dancing as soon as she started at four. Some years later Kristy choreographed a dance piece for kids in a local production of the Jungle Book in her hometown in Dubbo, NSW. Very soon a next-door neighbour who was in this piece asked her to continue teaching her. In 2005 (twelve-year-old), Kristy started her own mini-dance school and it’s here that her passion for teaching sparked. Soon there where twelve kids in the neighbourhood joining Kristy’s backyard dancing. Kristy has always believed that there is no need to sexualise dance for young children – instead let kids be kids. Both Backyard dancing and Colour of Dance offer(ed) an age appropriate and wholesome dance program. In 2018 Kristy took over the dance School in Seville, the beginning of Colour of Dance. Colour of dance aims to teach a rich dance education, have fun, make friends, keep fit and dance safely. We hope to bring some colour and joy to people as they improve their dancing. Our moving and grooving, from classical ballet to contemporary and funk, is based upon understanding the human body; this trains safe and impressive movement.

Three core aims at Colour of Dance:

1. To see students immersed in a rich, artistic ballet education through encouragement, building confidence and a positive self-esteem.
2. To value its people; students, teachers, parents, families, by welcoming you to enjoy our movement, friendship, creativity and theatre.
3. An age appropriate and wholesome curriculum.
